The election season may have been divisive, but now we have the opportunity to come together, set aside our differences, and focus on what truly matters: creating a better future for all. "And Jesus answered him, 'It is written, "You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve." (Luke 4:8)
This scripture shows Jesus rebuking Satan during his temptation in the wilderness. It carries a powerful message about the importance of worshiping and serving God alone and not those of the world - which includes politicians.
Tempting God or putting Him to the test, as Satan did in the wilderness, is a grave sin. It implies a lack of trust in God's wisdom, power, and timing in His prophetic writings. When Jesus rebuked Satan, He highlighted the importance of unwavering faith and obedience to God. Testing God undermines the relationship built on faith and reverence, and it tries to bend divine will to human desires. It's essential to trust that God’s plans are greater than our understanding and to remain steadfast in our faith, knowing that He is always guiding us for our ultimate good.
Putting trust in politics over God can be seen as a form of temptation, as it shifts reliance from divine guidance to human institutions. When people place their faith solely in political systems or leaders, they risk idolizing these entities and undermining their relationship with God. This act of misplaced trust can be interpreted as testing God's sovereignty and wisdom, as it suggests that human solutions are superior to divine intervention. True faith calls for trusting in God's plan and wisdom above all else, recognizing that while political systems have their place, they should never replace the ultimate authority and guidance of the Lord.
VOTING AND THE SOVEREIGNTY OF GOD
Many Christians, indwelt or otherwise, grapple with the balance between civic duty and spiritual indwelling faith, sometimes placing more emphasis on voting than on embracing the sovereignty of God. This can stem from a belief that political outcomes directly influence moral and religious freedom, which it does. However, this perspective risks overshadowing the fundamental authentic Christian principle of trusting in God's ultimate authority and prophetic plan. While participating in elections is important, it should not replace the deeper, unwavering belief in God's control over all aspects of life. True faith calls for recognizing that, regardless of political outcomes, God's sovereignty remains supreme and unchallenged.
God's sovereignty means that He is the ultimate authority and ruler over all creation, past, present, and future. It signifies His absolute power, wisdom, and control over everything that happens, from the grandest events in the universe to the smallest details of our lives.
In practical terms, this looks like unwavering belief, faith and trust in God's plans, even when they are beyond our understanding. It involves recognizing that nothing happens outside of God's will and that He has the power to guide and sustain us through every circumstance. Embracing God's sovereignty brings peace, knowing that we are held in the hands of an all-knowing, all-powerful, and perfectly loving Creator.
God's sovereignty encompasses every nation, including America, no matter who leads it or the depths of its corruption. This means that no matter the political climate, God's ultimate authority remains unchallenged. He is in control, guiding the course of history according to His divine will. This perspective offers a profound sense of assurance and hope, reminding us that our trust should not be placed in earthly leaders or systems, but in God's unchanging power and wisdom. Even in the midst of turmoil, we can find peace knowing that God's plan is unfolding exactly as it should.
God's sovereignty extends to every aspect of life, including the way people vote and the results of those elections.
This means that, even in the democratic process, God's ultimate authority and control are at work. Every vote cast and every election outcome falls within His divine plan, orchestrating events for purposes that may be beyond our comprehension. This perspective reassures believers that, regardless of political outcomes, God's sovereign will is being fulfilled. It calls for a trust that transcends political affiliations and recognizes God's hand in guiding nations, leaders, and the collective direction of society.
Proverbs 16:33: "The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the Lord." This scripture highlights God's sovereignty and control over all events, even those that seem random to us. Thus, being upset over the elections is fruitless. Also, thinking your “party” won is also fruitless. The democratic process has no effect on the sovereignty of the Living God. However, God strongly considers what you vote for eternally significant, meaning did you vote for righteousness or unrighteousness. This is what He writes down in the individual’s eternal book, your book, that will be opened during the Great White Throne of Judgement.
For Christians indwelt by the Holy Spirit, it is crucial that their decisions mirror the Holy Word of God.
This alignment ensures that their actions and choices reflect divine principles and teachings, fostering a life of faithfulness and righteousness. By grounding decisions in Scripture, Christians demonstrate their commitment to living in accordance with God's will, cultivating spiritual growth and strengthening their witness to others. This harmony between belief and behavior reinforces the transformative power of God's Word and the Holy Spirit, guiding believers in all aspects of life with wisdom and grace.
WHAT’S DONE IS DONE!
No matter how you voted, your responsibility as a real-deal Christian is to live out the indwelling life of Christ to sustain and support your nation. This means embodying Christ's teachings in your daily actions and showing love, compassion, and integrity in all you do. By reflecting Christ's light & LIFE, you contribute to your nation’s moral and spiritual fabric, advancing or rebuilding unity and hope.
Let’s not forget the admonishment of the Lord to respect all governing leaders - even those who don’t “deserve” your respect.
Yeshua’s faith within you and His actions through you can inspire others, creating a ripple effect that strengthens the nation as a whole. Remember, your ultimate allegiance is to God's kingdom, and through living out His principles, you can make a profound impact on the world around you.
